| Description | This box contains items mainly related to Derek Jarman and his work on which James Mackay was producer. Included are programmes for film festivals from around the world that have shown one of Jarman and Mackay's films, Derek Jarman retrospectives and catalogues for exhibitions of Jarman's artwork (paintings).
There is a German language book called 'Sprache Im Film' edited by Gustav Ernst which contains a chapter, 'Man to Man', written by Manfred Karge and James Mackay. Karge is the writer of the original German play on which the film was based. Another is an Italian book simply titled 'Derek Jarman' which features a brief section by Mackay. Also included is a list produced by Shipley booksellers of books available about Jarman.
There are individual articles from newspapers as well as groups of cuttings [both original and photocopied]. Most notable are two groups of cuttings for the film 'The Garden', 1990-1992, reviews for 'The Last of England' 1987-1989, groups of cuttings relating to Jarman in general, 1989-1993 and a group of general film industry-related articles, 1995-1998. There is also a compilation of articles for the release of an album named 'Kaddish' by Towering Inferno [1994] (one article states 'A feature film project of Kaddish with [Mackay's] production company Basilisk...is in the planning stages' [The Wire 'Prayers on Fire', Dave Morrison]).
