Description | The majority of content of this box is material from the early 1980s relating to Dark Pictures Ltd, an early production company of James Mackay. There are a number of files with correspondence about costings, bookings and sales of films the company represents including Derek Jarman's 'In the Shadow of the Sun' and 'T.G: Psychic Rally in Heaven', the first projects that Mackay worked on with Jarman.
There is also a green plastic file of entry forms for film festivals for 1981, files containing bank and tax documents for the company, 1981-1984, and a series of blue folders for Jul 1982, labelled as follows:
Purchase for entry, 02.7.82 [1982] VAT, 02.7.82 Dark Pictures - In, 02.7.82 Purchase, 02.7.82 Corporation tax, 06.7.82 Sales invoices for entry, 02.7.82 Pending, 02.7.82 Bank account, 02.7.82 Co. formation, 02.7.82 Action,02.7.82
Inside a loose leaf file labelled 'Scripts' are two screenplays by George Stamkoski titled 'Sex in the Divided City' and 'Lift (working title)' [some of which is in German], the latter is dated 1982. There is also a [diary entry] 'The shooting of Werner Schroeter's 'Day of the Idiots' in Prague', 1981. While there is no author named, George Stamkoski appeared as an actor in the film.
Additionally, a number of blue plastic wallets contain a screenplay for 'Ein Schluck Vom Kuchen' by George stamkoski and Joerg Ziesemer and a proposal for a 'Video project by E.G. Music and Dark Pictures' involving Derek Jarman, 1981. There is also a scene breakdown which is presumably related to the project.
The two large box files labelled 'Pansy Scripts' contain copies of a screenplay titled 'Pansy', a few copies also have an alternative name of 'Bliss' included, written by Derek Jarman and Malcom Suthrland, 1991 [ NB it does not appear as though this film was ever actually made]. |
