1. Items extracted from box labelled 'Scotland', comprising misc. correspondence, notes and papers about Scotland (as well as Devon and Cornwall), mainly relating to geographical locations, objects and artefacts (houses, stonecrosses etc.). Also contains family and professional photographs, including of Theo Brown and Henry Williamson; also contains typed drafts of chapters of unidentified work (by ?TB)
2. Yellow folder labelled 'Wales', containing: misc. research notes, correspondence, photographs and booklets, together with a letter from Lois Deacon regarding collection of clippings and the disposition of Deacon's own literary papers (1971-1990)
3. Yellow folder labelled 'Newfoundland', containing clippings, booklets, offprints, photocopies, correspondence and research notes (including items from/by J.D.A. Widdowson and Ray Clark of the University of Newfoundland regarding Devon Newfoundland connections) (1960s)
4. Yellow folder labelled 'Africa', containing notes, correspondence, collated stories, pamphlets, mainly on Africa. Includes music, poetry, arts and crafts, human-animal transformation, animal spirits and festivals. Also includes 1972-1972 teaching materials for course 'What is folklore?', given by TB (1959-1990) |
