Admin HistoryThe Leeds and Liverpool Canal Company was formed by an Act in 1770 to enable trade connections across the Pennines to be improved. The company bought out Douglas Navigation in 1753. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal Company passed to the British Transport Commission by an Act of 1947.
