DescriptionThis collection consists of copies of a small portion of photographs of the South Tawton Photographic Archive, with the originals dating from the late 19th century to the 1980s. The photographs represented in this collection are grouped into three sections as follows: Group A: social groups; Group B: occupational groups; and Group C: landscape. Places featured include South Zeal, Shelly, South Tawton, as well as photographs of community activities such as carnivals and fairs, as well as quarrying and agricultural work.
Admin HistoryThe South Tawton Local History Group (now the South Tawton and District Local History Group) is based in South Tawton, a small village located on the western edge of Dartmoor near Okehampton, Devon.
