TitleArab Bureau research
DescriptionBox of correspondence, notes and drafts relating to Bidwell's research into the history of The Arab Bureau, a British intelligence agency that was active in Cairo between 1916 and 1920 with the aim of gathering intelligence information on the Arab world. Some of Bidwell's research was used in the editorials he provided for 'The Arab bulletin: bulletin of the Arab Bureau in Cairo, 1916-1919' (1986) and 'Arabian personalities of the early twentieth century' (1986), but the extent of the research and the draft texts indicates he planned to write a more detailed history of the Bureau. In addition to typed notes and copies of historical documents from various archives, there are two files of correspondence (most of it around 1973-1974) with surviving members of the Bureau or their descendants.
