TitleMaterial relating to vows made by sisters
DescriptionThis series comprises papers relating to vows made by sisters of Syon Abbey who made their profession in religion whilst the community was living in Lisbon, Portugal (1607 -1861); London, England (1809-1815), Spetisbury, Dorset, England (1861-1886); Chudleigh, Devon, England (1886-1925); and South Brent, Devon, England (1925-2010). The vows represented significant stages in the formation of the sisters and their commitment to God, the religious life and the community. Historically the vows have been kept together, and were formerly stored in the safe at Syon Abbey's last residence in South Brent.

Material in this series relates to several different vows made by the sisters, including: vows of obedience; vows for simple profession made by a novice; vows for solemn profession and the vow of renewal of profession.

This series also includes two volumes recording the vows of obedience os sisters.
