DescriptionThis series comprises material relating to the research of the Order of the Most Holy Saviour, also known as the Bridgettine Order or the Bridgettines, compiled by or on request of the community. It includes:

- Manuscript and typescript notes on the lives of St Bridget and St Catherine of Sweden;

- Pedigree [genealogy chart] of St Bridget of Sweden;

- Manuscript transcripts of letters of St Catherine of Sweden sent to Lord Wenceslaus of Bohemia and Lord Beiger [Gregersson], Archbishop of Uppsala, in 1380;

- Calendar of notable events in the history of the Bridgettine Order;

- Translations of Swedish Bridgettine manuscripts by Sister Mary Lucia [Kock];

- Document entitled, 'Of the takinge up of sayt birgits body & convayinge of yt unto watzsten in swethe' [of the taking up of Saint Bridget's body and conveying of it unto Vadstena in Sweden], c 17th century, accompanied by a 20th century transcript;

- Typescript notes and transcripts of documents relating to St Bridget and Vadstena;

- One file of mixed notes on St Bridget of Sweden and the history of the Order;

- Manuscript transcript of an extract from the Svenkst Diplomatarium in Latin;

- Notebook containing manuscript transcripts from manuscripts in Latin relating to the miracles of St Catherine of Sweden?;

- Typescript volume entitled 'On Sankta Karin, About Saint Kate, Jöns Budde's Book, Translated from the early Swedish by A Sister of the Chapter';

- File of articles in Swedish relating to the history of the Bridgettine Order, c 1960s;

- Manuscript transcripts from 'Acta Sanctorum' [Acts of the Saints] concerning St Bridget of Sweden and St Catherine of Sweden;

- Papers relating to Marina de Escobar [founder of the 'Spanish branch' of the Order], comprising a letter from Miriam Hague; an essay entitled, 'The Venerable Finger of Marina de Escobar'; a manuscript copy of Marina de Escobar's adjusted Rules and Constitutions of the Order, approved in 1626, and a biography of Marina de Escobar; and a document summarising the chapters of the 'First Part of the Marvellous Life of the Venerable Virgin, Dona Marina de Escobar';

- Manuscript transcript of a document entitled 'Memorandum St Katherine's Canonisation';

- Manuscript transcript of the 'Tenour of fifty-one articles concerning the life & merits of St. Bridget. From the Process of Canonisation' [transcribed and decorated by Sister Mary Stanislas?];

- Notebook containing manuscript notes on Nicholas [Hermansson (c 1326–1391), Bishop of Linköping (Sweden) and friend to St Bridget of Sweden];

- Manuscript notes on the Bridgettine convent of Vadstena [possibly compiled by the community in Altomünster].
