| Description | This series comprises material relating to Margaret Howitt's research into St Bridget, Bridgettine monasteries (especially in Poland, Germany and Sweden), and the Order of the Most Holy Saviour, also known as the Bridgettine Order or the Bridgettines. It includes: correspondence from and to Syon Abbey and other Bridgettine houses (1897-1930); research notes; a manuscript entitled 'The Notes of an Aged Pilgrim to Rome'; a typescript essay entitled 'The Precursors of St. Bridget'; and typescript drafts of her biograpy of St Bridget of Sweden entitled, 'St. Bridget of Sweden in her Life and in her Order' and her biography of St Katherine of Sweden. Both biographies were revised and completed after Howitt's death by Sister Mary Dominic Redpath of Syon Abbey. |
