DescriptionMaterial relating to the constitutions, the principles by which Syon Abbey was regulated that are separate to canon law but require approval from church authority. The constitutions were regularly revised by the community in the 20th century. Material in this series includes:

- a file of papers relating to additions to the constitutions, 1950s;
- a file of papers relating to revisions of the constitutions, 1960s-1970s;
- a document entitled 'The Hierarchy of England and Wales direct the attention of the Religious Communities of Women to the following points arising out of the new Codex of Canon Law', c 1918;
- a volume containing an annotated typescript copy of the additions to the constitutions, c 1920;
- a file of papers relating to the new constitutions, 1987;
- a notebook of Chapter discussions regarding the constitutions, 1968;
- a notebook containing a manuscript copy of the constitutions, 19th century;
- two annotated typescript copies of the 'Additions to the Constitutions', 1957;
- a photocopy of the Syon Abbey Constitutions of 1608;
- a typescript copy of 'The Constitutions and Rules of Saint Birgitte' that were approved in 1635;
- and a transcript of the additions to the constitutions in Latin.
