Most of the cuttings report on the conflict between the Iraqi regime and the Kurds, with appeals to western countries to 'stop the genocide of the Kurds', journalists' accounts of spending time with Kurdish fighters - including a Life magazine feature from 1965 - profiles of, and interviews with, personalities such as Iraqi president Salam Arif, Prime Minister Abdul Rahman al-Bazzaz, Kurdish leaders Mustafa Barzani and Jalal Talabani, photocopies of typed correspondence from the British Foreign Office and The Times letters page relating to policy decisions on the Kurdish situation and the involvement of George Thomson MP, as reported in an article in the Sunday Times on 26 September 1965. |
