| Description | Folder of correspondence with Ismat Sharif Vanly (1924-2011), Kurdish scholar and founder in 1956 of the Kurdish Student Society in Europe (KSSE), including a letter from Mustafa Barzani written in Arabic on 25 October 1964, authorising Ismet Chériff Vanly to be the KDP's representative in Europe, with an accompanying French translation. There are also letters to Omar Sheikhmous (1967-1999), discussing the formation of Kurdistan International, the new Yekbun party, Vanly's opinion of Ayatollah Khomeini (with whom he had stayed) and ongoing relations between the PUK and KDP, a copy of an undated letter to Vanly from the KDPS, and a letter from Vanly to the PUK leadership (28 February 1977) and another letter calling for a Kurdish National Congress (8 February 1978), plus correspondence from Vanly as representative of La Ligue des Juristes Kurdes with papers relating to his participation in conferences on Kurdish rights at Lausanne and Stockholm (1990) |
