Title | Papers relating to 'The Tidal Thames' project |
Description | The files in this series relate to 'The Tidal Thames - a ballad for the river / a voice for the people' project planned by Common Ground during the 1990s, but which never came to fruition. The project was designed to encourage local people in London to explore their relationship with the River Thames and become more aware of the value of running water. The project would have involved the creation of an epic ballad for the Thames, as well as a new cultural and environmental map of the river and its many tributaries, which Common Ground hoped would raise local people's interest in running water and in practical environmental action. Common Ground sought funding and sponsorship of two proposed river projects 'The Tidal Thames' and 'Confluence' in the late 1990s, but the charity was only able to secure full funding for 'Confluence'. |
