| Description | The 'Orchard Observances' initiative was launched by Common Ground in 1995 to coincide with European Nature Conservation Year. Common Ground circulated a call out to owners of orchards in the UK, requesting them to keep a diary of observations from October 1994 to November 1996 about their orchards, which should include information about their location and setting; cultivation and management; varieties, age and density of trees; and resident and visiting wildlife. The collected information was intended to form the basis of a new pamphlet on orchards and wildlife. This sub-series comprises files relating to the project, including correspondence and diaries sent to Common Ground by orchard owners. |
