Deed relating to the will of John Green of Luton
Description
The deed is a single document, dated 20 February in the first year of the reign of Philip and Mary (the second year of Mary's reign). It is a receipt for a sum under the will of John Green of Luton by Elizabeth Green, daughter of John Steven of Luton, tailor.
Transcription:
Vicesimo die ffebruarij
Anno Regni philippi & marie
Rege & Regine nu[n]c p[ri]mo & sec[un]d[o]
M[emoran]d[um] that we John Steven of luton in the countie of Bedford Taylo[r] and Elisabethe my wyffe hath Receyued and hade of {wyll} [deleted] Edward grene of Chiltren grene parysshe of luton aforesayd Executo[r ] to the Laste wyll amd testament of John grene late ffather to the said Elisabethe deceased xxxiijs iiijd of Lawful money of Englande w[hi]ch xxxiijs iiijd was geven and bequeathed to the said Elisabethe my wyffe by the said last wyll & testament as in the said wyll more at large dothe appeare wherupon we the said John Steven & Elisabeth my wyffe doth knowledge vs to be well & truly satisfyed contente & paide. And to this o[ur] acquitaunce we haue putt o[ur] handes & Seales the day & yere aboue wrytten.
