DescriptionPhotographs (including oversize) and glass plate negatives of officials and group college photographs of the University College of the South West. The contents of the file are as follows:

i) Walter H Moberly
Principal of the University College of the South West 1925-1926. Moberly House (Duryard Halls) is named after him.

ii) John Murray
Principal of the University College of the South West of England 1926-1951. He was responsible for beginning the transfer of UCSWE to the Streatham campus and in 1956 became an honorary graduand of the University at the congragation held to install the Chancellor having been awarded the Charter. Murray House (Duryard Halls) is named after him.

iii) F H Newman
First professor of physics from 1923 and director of the Washington Singer Laboratories from their opening in 1931, he became Acting-Principal of the University College of the South West of England 1951-1952, the year of his death. The Newman Building is named after him.

iv) L M Grayburn
College appeal organiser 1926-1935.

v) Sir Henry Lopes
Deputy President of the University College of the South West of England 1922-1936 and (as Lord Roborough) President 1936-1938. Lopes Hall is named after him.

vi) K M Constable
Warden of Reed Hall for many years.

vii) Roderick Ross
Registrar 1952 -1975 (title changed to Secretary in 1954). He was an occasional cricketer and founded the Nomads, one of two staff cricket clubs, in 1965.
