Description | Photographs (including oversize) and glass plate negatives of academic buildings on the Streatham campus, with names beginning G-L, comprising the following: Harrison Building, Hatherly Laboratories, Hoopern House and Laver Building (arranged individually by file). A detailed description of each file is given below:
i) Harrison Building One file of exterior photographs [1960s-1980s]. Also glass plate negatives. The building was completed in 1968, inaugurated by H R H Prince Philip on 21 Mar 1969 and renamed after David Harrison, Vice-Chancellor of the University 1984-1994.
ii) Hatherly Laboratories One file of exterior photographs [1970s-1980s]. Also glass plate negatives and oversize items. Includes the official opening in 1953. The laboratories were completed a year earlier and built partly with a bequest from Mrs Heath, whose maiden name was Hatherly.
iii) Hoopern House One file containing a single exterior photograph, 1980.
iv) Kaye Laboratories Two photographs of the interior plus one of the opening by Harry Kay (also shows Sir Rex Richards and David Harrison)
v) Laver Building One file of exterior photographs, including the construction process [1960s-1980s]. Also glass plate negatives. The building, completed 1966-1967, was designed by Louis de Soissons, Peacock, Robertson, Hodges & Fraser at a cost of £368,000. |
