Admin HistoryEdna Mary Mann (1928-2005) was a resident of Falmouth and a committed supporter of the Liberal Party. Married to Charles Mann, an engineer and proprietor of the former Lamanva Military Vehicle Museum (est. 1975) near Falmouth, and mother of two, Mann first became interested in the Liberal Party during the 1966 General Election after hearing the election address of the Liberal candidate Maneula Sykes. Mann would join the Liberal Party the following year and went on to hold a variety of positions within the Falmouth & Camborne Association and the Penryn Liberal Association including: Secretary, Agent, Treasurer, President, and also briefly Chairman.

During the 1970s Mann acted as Secretary of the Penryn Liberal Association, Parlimentary Liberal Agent for Falmouth and Camborne and Treasurer of the Cornwall Liberal Party. She also worked to support the candidature of Edward Thomas Sara in the 1974 General Election, before pursuing her own political ambitions by standing as the Liberal Association's candidate in the County Council by-election on November 1st 1979. Although she was unsuccesful in securing this seat she continued to work tirelessly in local politics, representing Falmouth and Camborne at executive committee meetings of the Devon and Cornwall Region Liberal Party during the late 1970s and early 1980s and later holding the position of Honorary Secretary for the Cornwall Liberal Party during the early 1980s before assisting the campaign committee for the European Elections of 1984.

Mann's interests were not exlcusively party-political. She also became a parish councillor for Budock in 1967 and was chairman of the Council for several years. She was also a non-party district councillor from 1971-1976 and Chairman of the local youth group.

Mann died in 2005.
