Admin History | Professor Adrian Lee was an academic and researcher who worked as Associate Dean in the Faculty of Human Sciences at University of Plymouth during the 1990s. Lee's main area of interest was Cornish Nationalism and comparative movements in the 1980s and 1990s. Lee regularly appeared as a commentator on elections for regional television and radio, was actively involved in the Cornish political scene and regularly presented papers at various nationwide conferences.
As part of his political research Lee collected and collated a large amount of material including newspaper cuttings, research papers, letters and electoral paraphernalia relating to Cornish politics and comparative movements. A particular focus was the Mebyon Kernow political party, Cornish nationalism and the enquiry into a European Cornwall constituency during the 1980s and 1990s. In the early 1990s Lee played an active role in the work of the Institute of Cornish Studies with his pioneering research on Cornish politics. Lee also contributed to the book 'Cornwall since the War: the contemporary history of a European region' (published by Institute of Cornish Studies in 1993, edited by Professor Philip Payton).
Upon retirement Lee donated his Collection of relevant political papers to the Institute of Cornish Studies.
