| AdminHistory | 'Comrades' was much anticipated and received as large amount of press attention as Bill Douglas' first film in eight years and Channel 4's biggest production to date. The film was lauded by critics both during its festival screenings in late 1986/early 1987 and when released in cinemas in August later that year. The subject-matter of the Tolpuddle Martyrs also garnered attention and many trade union and Labour publications saw the issues raised relevant to the mid 1980s. |
