Box 1/XAD/9/1 Photograph album bound in leather with map of Egypt design produced by Bill Douglas which includes pictures from his time in the RAF in Egypt. Many of the pictures are loose. The first two of four large photo albums with miscellaneous photos from across Douglas' lifetime - there is a list produced by Peter Jewell that corresponds with order of Cairo (Bill's photograph album) in the first instance and then the four newer albums.

AdminHistoryBill Douglas (1934-1991), filmmaker, was born into extreme poverty in the small mining town of Newcraighall, just outside Edinburgh. During his life, he travelled widely to attend film festivals and took photographs from his travels and the people he met. As a teenager, he signed up to the RAF and was sent to Egypt to carry out his service, on his return, he soon moved to London and lived with his friend who he had met during his time in the RAF, Peter Jewell.
