| Description | Records of the Northcott Theatre Finance Committee; comprising the agenda, supporting documents and minutes issued for the meetings of the committee in its various iterations. The committee minutes and accompanying documents generally include information relating to box office analysis, accounts, proposed development plans, seat prices, policy documents, and business with the Arts Council and other funding bodies. From 1970-1974 reports from the Northcott Youth Theatre are regularly included as an addendum, and in 1976 the reports of the Liason Committee with Exeter University are also included. Two sets of minutes appear to have been retained by the Northcott, with one set being kept at the theatre and another at Emmanual Hall. Both sets are incomplete and there are minor differences between the sets, including some annotation. Please note that minutes from the Board of Management often include reports and accompanying documents from the Finance Committee and can be used to fill in some of the gaps, particularly as these minutes run up to 2005. [See EUL MS 348/ADM/GOV/1]. Corporate Plans referred to in the minutes may be found in EUL MS 348/ADM/GOV/4 (1991-2006) |
| AdminHistory | The Finance Committee went through various iterations of names. It is unknown when a version of the committee was first established, but it had been operating prior to May 1968. The committee was disbanded in 1987 and re-introduced in 1989 as part of three advisory sub-committees recommended for implementation in an Arts Council appraisal report (the subcomittees being Arts, Finance, and Marketing & Sponsorship). This advisory subcommittee was disbanded and a full Finance and Executive committee re-established in 1993, with the first meeting being held in Jan 1994 . The various iterations of the committee and covering dates are briefly listed below: Finance & Business subcommittee (date of first meeting unknown - Jun 1969) Finance and General Purpose Committee (Jul 1969 - 1987) Disbanded (1987-1989) Finance Advisory Subcommittee (1989-1993) Finance & Executive Committee (Jan 1994 - post 2005 unknown) |
