He was a war correspondent in France during the second World War for the Daily Mail, and was appointed KBE for his journalism, which included a report on the battle of the Somme. Beach Thomas also wrote for The Times, the Spectator and The Observer, and published works such as 'The English Year' and 'The Yeoman's England', as well as two autobiographies. |
