| AdminHistory | Laurence Whistler [1912-2000] was a glass engraver, writer and architectural historian. He was awarded the first king's gold medal for poetry in 1935, and went on to publish collections such as 'The World's Room' and 'Enter'. Whistler also published on arhcitectural history, before coming to glass engraving later in life. He went on to mount fourteen exhibitions of his work, became president of the Guild of Glass Engravers in 1975, and received his knighthood in the year 2000, shortly before his death. |
