| Title | Letter from John Cowper Powys to James Abell |
| Creator Name | Powys; John Cowper (1872-1963); philosopher, lecturer, novelist, literary critic, and poet |
| Description | Single folded sheet from a longer letter. Unsigned, but in Powys's hand. The letter discusses how hesitant he is to discuss 'the eccentricities of my attractions' in an unamed book [possibly 'Autobiography']. He suggests that it might better be titled 'Confessions of a Cerebralist', talks about his general aims for the tone and content of the book, and mentions Radiguet's 'The Ball of Count Orgel' and Thomas Mann's 'Magic Mountain'. He also muses on the enemies of writers and mentions wanting to read Getrude Stein's book. |
