| Description | Parchment document from the City of Exeter, congratulating the University on the granting of its Royal Charter in 1955. The document is colourfully decorated with the Exeter coat of arms (depicting Rougemont Castle, a shield, a crest, a red crowned lion holding a golden orb, two winged horses as supporters, and the motto 'Semper Fidelis') and an illustration of the Guildhall. The document has the Seal of the City of Exeter attached.
This document was originally displayed in a purpose-built glass-topped display casket made at the Central Technical College. The brass plaque of the casket has been retained and is included in this collection. |
