AdminHistory'Comrades' was not widely available through the 1990s. It was largely without any commercial distribution and there were very few theatrical screenings -- evidence of these few screenings that did occur we hold in the archive. However, the film was given a new lease on life with the release of 'Comrades' on DVD, distributed by the BFI in 2009. 'Comrades' also achieved international acknowledgment in 2013 with the UFO release and distribution of the film in France. The film had its first French screenings and was followed closely by the DVD release. This resurgence of popularity has led 'Comrades', along with Douglas' 'Trilogy', to be re-assessed and be given the critical and academic attention it deserves in cinematheques, festivals and film seasons.
