DescriptionThe file contains: Douglas reflections on making 'My Childhood; unsent letter to Mamoun Hassan outlining Douglas' displeasure with his cameraman; two chapters titled 'Willie' and 'My Childhood' from Jewell's unfinished biography. Two handwritten notes of speeches by Bill Douglas, one marked that it was for the Edinburgh screening introduction; Peter Jewell's book notes for his biography on Bill 'See you in the Morning' with list of critics to draw on and notes from James Park's 'Learning to Dream'. Photocopies of each are included. Handwritten note by Bill Douglas introducing Jamie like a narrator. Draft notes by Bill Douglas on his responses to local critics of the film who claimed the portrayal of the commuity was too negative. Possibly draft to a letter to David Brown in Newcraighall.

AdminHistoryBill Douglas' production of 'My Childhood' was relatively untroubled, especially when compared to his later experiences in filmmaking. However, during shooting he did have some issues with his crew and with the locals of Craigmillar, which he details in his writings.
