| AdminHistory | Bill Douglas' film 'My Childhood' was not warmly received by the Newcraighall locals and apparently they did not take too kindly to the film's representation of poverty. However, since Bill Douglas' passing, the mining village of Newcraighall, a south-eastern suburb of Edinburgh, have put on a number of local events related to Douglas' Trilogy and have various tributes to the filmmaker around the village including a plaque to Douglas in the village, a road called 'Bill Douglas Grove' as well as a sculpture celebrating cinema. |
