| AdminHistory | Benjamin Britten [1913-1976] was a composer, conductor and pianist. He studied at the Royal College of Music, and went on to compose a wide range of works including operas, orchestral and chamber music, as well as other vocal music. His works include 'Peter Grimes', 'The War Requiem', 'A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra' and 'Our Hunting Fathers', a work produced in collaboration with friend and poet W H Auden. Henry Williamson dedicated a short story published in the Adelphi to Britten, which would later be re-published as a chapter of his 1948 novel 'The Phasian Bird'. |
