| AdminHistory | Frances Horovitz [1938-1983] was a poet and broadcaster. She studied English and Drama at Bristol University. Horovitz worked as an actress before being employed by George MacBeth as a principal reader for poetry programmes at the BBC. She was also involved with The Aylesford Review, who were the first to publish her poetry in 1967, and in 1975 she acted in the first performance of Ted Hughes' 'Cave Birds'. Horovitz taught English and Drama part-time during the 1960s, and became an Arvon writing centre tutor in the 1970s. She was married to the poet Michael William Horovitz from 1964-1983, and married Roger Garfitt on 6th September 1983, shortly before her death on 2nd October. |
