| Description | Manuscript letter with writing on three sides of one folded piece of paper, and original posted envelope. The letter was written from Hillsdale New York, and addresses James Abell as Jim. Makes mention of an enclosed note sent to Powys from a 'Mr Trash' [this note does not appear to be part of the archive collection]. The letter references one of Powys's books being released on January 15th, and refers to Abell being the only of his 'philisophical friends,' to have given useful notes on the book. The envelope has James Abell's address as Longbeach California, c/o Mrs J. J. Abell. [The Long Beach City Directory of 1931 records a Lassie Abell, widow of John J. Abell residing at 1823 Appleton Long Beach] |
