| Description | 12 versions of the Exeter hip stem, made from alloy. Eight of the stems are numbered to show the progression of the design between 1970-2000s, a number of the stems have circles at the top of them stem, this allows the surgeon to judge how far to insert the stem and maintain leg length. One of the stems is engraved 'Polished old style titanium standard 44mm for Mr R Ling test', which was trialled for patients with a metal allergy. One of the stems has an elongated stem which was created to bypass any weak bones and to sit further down into good bone. |
