Description'Figgie Hobbin' was first published for children in 1970 by Macmillan. In its early drafts, the work was called 'Round the town'.

Includes:

1. Typescript drafts, with manuscript revisions, and fine copies, [c 1968]-1973.

2. Spiral-bound notebook with manuscript rough notes and drafts of various poems, many of which were later published in 'Figgie Hobbin', 1970.

3. One small red hardback notebook [inscribed in pencil "2/6" and labelled '2' on white label on top left-hand corner of front cover] containing the following poem drafts (first lines also given where title of poem unclear): untitled starting "And all the boughs of the sycamore tree...", 'At Candlemas', 'Who is that child?' (also called 'Who?'), 'Colonel Fazackerley', 'A sailor sat on the watery shore', 'We heard the fiddle play', 'I saw a jolly hunter', 'King Foo Foo', untitled starting '"My neighbour Mr Normanton...", 'Weather rhyme', 'At the water fair', 'A true story' ('The Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould'), 'Robert Stephen Hawker', 'Lovelace' (also called 'Lord Lifton') and 'Cradle song', n.d.

4. One small red hardback notebook [inscribed in pencil "3/2" and labelled '3' on white label on top left-hand corner of cover], containing the following poem drafts (first lines also given where title of poem unclear): 'Skegness in the sand' (also called 'Skegness'), 'Sir Frederick', 'What has happened to Lulu, mother?', 'If you should go to Caister Town', 'Round the town', 'Lord Lifton', 'Winter's end', 'Tell me, tell me Sarah Ann', 'I showed my love a leaf', 'Old mother what's-her-name' (also called 'Old Mrs Thingummybob'), 'Tom Bone', 'Johnny Groat says', 'My young man's a Cornishman', 'A wolf came into my garden', 'As I went down zig zag', 'Mother, why are these monkeys', 'One day by the sea-side', 'Sall Scratch', 'Billy Medals', 'Grey man, green man, purple man, blue' and 'Quack!' said the billy-goat', n.d.
