  <dc:description>Folder of presscuttings from newspapers - mainly UK titles but also the Egyptian Gazette and others - covering events in Yemen during 1986, interleaved with handwritten and typed notes by Bidwell. as well as a copy of a paper by Manfred Wenner, 'The 1986 Civil War in South Yemen: a preliminary assessment', given at the Gulf and Arab World Symposium at Exeter University in July 1986 with a four-page letter to Wenner from D.J. McCarthy discussing Russian involvement in the Civil War and other topics, the transcript of a BBC programme 'The World Today, 16 January 1986' in which Bidwell participated along with other Yemeni specialists Maurice Gent and Fred Halliday, and a small black and white photograph that appears to show dismembered heads on display, with some faint Arabic writing on the back.</dc:description>
