Red binder of presscuttings and ephemera Large red binder containing a mass of presscuttings and ephemera relating to Oman and the conflict in Dhofar, arranged chronologically with additional ephemera and smaller files interleaved. The first item is a three-paged typed report on a closed conference at SOAS in the summer of 1968 discussing the implications of the British withdrawal from the Gulf, after which is an extensive compilation of newspaper cuttings and other documents on the war in Oman from British and French newspapers and other publications, such as Le Monde, Afrique-Asia, The Times, Daily Mail, Morning Star, Time Out, Republican News, United Irishman, Wall Street Journal, Al-Djazira, Arab Press Service, The Red Mole and The Black Dwarf, as well as various other European media outlets. There are also individual documents and press releases from various organisations and publications, such as the Omani Embassy, the Gulf Committee e.g. 'British and Iranian Forces Out of Oman!' (G.C. 21 October 1974), the Ministry of Defence and Hansard. Other items include Vol.1, No.2 of the Iranian People's Struggle (May 1975), a two-page statement, 'The Armed Revolution Continues in OMAN' published by the Committee for the Support of the Iranian People's New Revolutionary Movement (in Britain), a report on the death of Nigel Loring in action in Oman (Ampleforth Journal Summer 1975). a clear plastic wallet including cuttings on Iranian students demonstrating in London against Iranian involvement in Oman, with masks on to prevent identification by Shah's agents and various articles in English and Arabic from left-wing and PFLO publications. 1968-1979
