  <dc:description>Causley edited the anthology called 'Modern folk ballads' which was published as part of the 'Pocket poets' series in 1966 by Studio Vista, London. This included 'Ballad of the bread man' by Causley.

1. Papers including letters from Hamish Henderson of the University of Edinburgh, 1965-1966, manuscript notes by Causley on the ballad form, notes on contents with typescripts of some poems for inclusion, list of sources. Also includes papers relating specifically to the history of St Martha, probably in preparation for poem 'St Martha and the Dragon', later published in 'Figure of 8'), containing copies of articles from 'Folk-lore: Transactions of the Folk-Lore Society', notes on the history of the St Martha legend, together with various manuscript and typescript drafts of Causley's poem. Also contains letters from Peter Levi of Heythrop College, Chipping Norton and others, 1965-1966
