A detailed description of the contents of the file is given below:

i) H M the Queen and H R H The Duke of Edinburgh at the Roborough Library, 8 May 1956, during a visit to present the Royal Charter conferring full university status and to lay the Foundation Stone for the Arts Building (Queen's)

ii) H R H The Duke of Edinburgh inaugurates the Harrison (Engineering) Building, 21 Mar 1969
Also in photograph are the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire (Chancellor) and F J Llewellyn (Vice-Chancellor).

iii) H R H Princess Anne opens the Main Library (originally called the Rashid Building though this title was later abandoned) 1983
Also present in photographs are Sir Rex Richards (Chancellor), Harry Kay (Vice-Chancellor), J F Stirling (Librarian) and M R Myhill (later Deputy Librarian)

iv) H M the Queen in Peter Chalk Centre being shown round exhibition by Vice-Chancellor Sir Geoffrey Holland, 19 May 1995.
