Admin History | Patrick Ewart Garland [1935-2013] was a director, writer and actor. He attended the University of Southampton and Oxford University, where he was president of the Poetry Society and the Dramatic Society. Garland started Poetry International with Ted Hughes and Charles Osbourne, and went on to work as a director and producer for the BBC's Music and Arts department. In 1971, he directed a television film adaptation of 'The Snow Goose', which won a Golden Globe and was nominated for a BAFTA and Emmy. Garland also directed for the stage, and worked as Artistic Director for Chichester Festival Theatre on two separate occasions, from 1981-1985 and 1990-1994. He was working on his memoirs and a book about Corsica at the time of his death. |
