TitlePhotographs from Luce's meetings in Gulf
DescriptionEnvelope containing a mixture of photographs taken during Luce's diplomatic negotations in the Gulf during 1970-71, including two showing him with King Faisal of Saudi Arabia (August 1970) along with Willie Morris (UK Ambassador to Saudi) and Faisal's personal physician Dr Rashad Pharaon (1912-1990), a photograph of 'the occasion of the last meeting of the Persian Gulf Military Co-ordination Committee, held on board HMS Intrepid at sea on 11 December 1971' which shows five politicians alongside seven senior officers from the army, RAF, naval and Parachute Regiment, accompanied by a typed compliments slip addressed to Sir William Luce, two computer-printouts of colour photographs, one showing Luce with Jim Treadwell, the other of Luce with Abdul Rahmin Al Mahmoud and Sir Geoffrey Arthur, both taken in Lahore in January 1970, and an envelope containing four small colour photographs from a visit to Iran to meet the Shah at Babolsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea in November 1971, including Luce, the Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs Abbas Ali Khalatbari, Peter Ramsbotham, UK Ambassador to Iran, and Luce's PA, Daphne Blackman, on the beach; plus two photos of the Elburz Mountains - between Iran and the Caspian Sea - and a village in the mountains.
