Admin HistoryS. Lister Petty (fl 1878-1919), botanist, bibliophile, was living in 1889 in Chapeltown Road, Leeds, but soon after moved to Ulverston, first at Dykelands and later at 24 Queen Street. He wrote a series of tracts, 'The constituents of the North Lancashire flora: 1597-1893' (1894), published in eighteen parts by a local botanical society.

Access ConditionsUsual EUL arrangements apply.
ArrangementWhen examined in 2001, the letters and press cuttings of the Very Revd. S.C. Carpenter (EUL MS 42) had been thrust in with the loose Petty papers, with the effect that it was difficult to sort the two collections out again. It is therefore possible that there are items wrongly placed.
