TitleThe Blue Concerts in Italy
DescriptionThis file predominantly relates to the 'Blue' concerts held in Milan, between 14 July -2 August 1993, which was part of the National Review of Live Art. There are five flyers advertising the National Review of Live Art. There is a newspaper cutting from the Independent about 'Blue' and a post-production script of 'Blue' in Italian. The file also contains various documents relating to 'Time Zones', the company which organised the 'Blue' concerts in Europe, including posters and leaflets.

Whilst most of the file relates to the concert in Milan, there are some documents relating to the Bari concert which was performed prior to the one in Milan. The correspondence concerns films and equipment for the concert as well as shipping and insurance costs. There is also a note stating that Derek Jarman will not be able to attend the concert. Other correspondence regarding the Bari concert includes a letter from Simon and Claudia Turner enquiring about the production of a tape of the Bari concert, which also includes a hand written reply from Mackay. There is also an invoice to Time Zones for concerts on the 25, 26 and 27 May 1992. Also related to the Bari concert are various forms and statements about damage to instrument cases which occurred on the flight after the concert.

The rest of the file relates to the concerts in Italy. It includes correspondence with Sabino Martiradonna, who co-ordinated the 'Blue' concerts in Europe, about requirements and fees for the concerts, including equipments lists. There is also correspondence between the Mackay and the Arts Council about the organisation of the Blue concerts, expressing concern about funding and the unstable political situation in Italy at the time.

There is also a programme of events for the 'Blueprint' concerts, including Milan, with an introduction to the 'Blue' concerts by Simon Turner. Many of the documents concern the logistics of the concerts and relate to contact details and the organisation of flights and tickets for the musicians as well as the equipment needed for the concerts and the venue requirements. There are also various invoices for the concerts and correspondence about fees, as well as correspondence between Mackay and Simon Goldberg about contracts for the 'Blue' concerts.

This file also contains correspondence about the use of 'Blue' in the USA to promote the concerts, and even the possibility of performing some concerts in the USA. There is also a letter from Roberto Nanni about the possibility of making a documentary about Jarman and 'Blue' while he is in Italy for the 'Blue' concerts. Other items of interest include a list of cut times for compilation tapes of Jarman's Super 8 films and correspondence about a 'Blue' concert at the Gent Festival, alongside other documents relating to previous Gent festivals.
