Description | Anthony Attard (1941 - 2020). The archive of screenwriter Anthony Attard includes film scripts, television scripts, awards and certificates, correspondence on made and unmade films including That Summer! (1979), memories of working in the film industry in the UK and US and of studying at the National Film School in the 1970s. There is also correspondence with film personalities, including Lindsay Anderson and David Puttnam. Mr Attard has also donated film memorabilia to the museum.

Admin History | Born in London, Anthony Attard served in the Royal Navy from 1957-62 before living for some years in Torquay. Returning to London to try a career as a writer in the 1970s, he gained a place at the National Film School in 1974 where he wrote a number of short films shown at International film festivals. In his professional career he wrote the original story and script for the feature film 'That Summer!'(1979), starring Ray Winstone, and produced and wrote the 30 minute short film 'Towers of Babel', which was released in cinemas as a supporting film and won an award at the Chicago Film Festival. He also produced and co-wrote a children's film 'Haunters of the Deep' in 1984. He also wrote a number of unfilmed screenplays and spent some time in Hollywood in 1979-80. He also has written episodes of TV series 'The Bill' and 'Hornblower'. |
