DescriptionLarge folder of material relating to the World of Islam Festival, held in various UK venues during 1976. Events included an exhibition on The Qur'an at the British Library and an Art of Islam exhibition at the Hayward Gallery - both of which opened in April - a colloquium at Cambridge in July, other exhibitions at the Institute of Archaeology and the Science Museum in London, as well as events at the Royal Festival Hal, art performances and public talks. The folder includes programmes, presscuttings, invitation cards, programme sheets and guest lists, brochures and booklets on topics such as calligraphy, as well as An Appreciation written in December 1977 and other articles reviewing the Festival. There are also some items of correspondence, and a printed protest about the attendance at the Festival of Farah Pahlavi, the wife of the Shah of Iran
