TitleCorrespondence regarding Arabic manuscripts and Wilkinson's work
DescriptionFolder of correspondence between Wilkinson and other scholars regarding Arabic manuscripts and Wilkinson's work on Ibadism. The file includes correspondence (1977-81) with Dr Michael Cook of SOAS with his detailed critique of extracts from Wilkinson's draft articles on Ibadism, an exchange of letters with Werner Schwartz (Bonn) who supplied Wilkinson with a copy of the Kitab al-Athar manuscript, two letters from Dr Martin Hinds to Wilkinson, with a typed article by Hinds entitled 'An Early Islamic Family from Oman: Al'Awtabi's Account of the Muhallabids' along with a copy of folio 178a of the Dar al-Kutub manuscript, and photocopies of two pages of notes on the manuscript by Wilkinson which he presumably sent in response, and an exchange of letters between Wilkinson and Daniel Varisco about the comparative directions of their research. Also amongs the correspondence is an original Arabic manuscript, a bifolium legal document in black and red ink with some marginal annotations.
