DescriptionFolder of papers relating to Iraq's dams and reservoirs, comprising presscuttings from the Baghdad Observer and other newspapers during the mid 1980s, as well as photocopied magazine articles, Crusoe's handwritten notes and press faxes. In addition to material on the Bekhme dam, there are cuttings on the construction of the Qadissiya and Duhok dams, an issue of 'Le Minorange' 32 (October 1982), the in-house journal of industrial firm Bouygues with an illustrated article on constructing the seven 'Hammourabi' dams on the River Euphrates (there is also two photocopies of this article), a letter from the China State Construction Engineering Corporation regarding their contract with the Iraqi Ministry of Irrigation for undertaking a project at Kifil Shinafiya, details of South Korean contractors working in Iraq, tension between archaeologist excavating ancient sites before these were flooded by a dam near Mosul (1984), participation of Impregilo in construction of the Saddam dam, Eski Mosul dam, other international contractors and investors in dam projects, including companies from Turkey, Norway, Sweden, Yugoslavia and Slovenia.
