DescriptionFolder of presscuttings and telex reports on Iraq's use of chemical weapons, including several articles on the involvement of some 200 German firms in exporting weapon-making equipment, chemical technology and other arms supplies to Iraq during the 1980s. Firms implicated include Daimler-Benz, Siemens, Karl Kolb, Thyssen AG and Heberger Bau. Articles from papers including the Guardian, Der Spiegel, The Times, Financial Times and MEED cover the series of revelations, criminal prosecutions in Germany, statements by German political and business leaders - including condemnation of German firms signing 'anti-Israel clauses' in their contracts - and details of the various installations, chemical imports and nuclear materials with which German contractors were involved. Other items include the December 1989 issue of Babcock's German trade magazine, a photocopied article from The Middle East (August 1990) on German steel exports and Iraq's 'supergun', and an article claiming that the Stasi trained Iraqi agents.
