Topics covered include Belgrave and Bray photographing the Shaikh and his father (1 January), Iranian claims over Bahrain (4 January), establishment of a new Meglis Urfi or commercial court (11 January), presiding over 25-30 court cases every morning (19 January), further plans for electric light (23,28 January, 27 February - 4 March), protests on religious grounds against proposed cinema (31 January, 5 February, 11 April), the start of Ramadan (22 February), news of conflict in Kuwait (25-27 February), a visit from the Political Resident, Haworth (8 March), further intrigue regarding the claims of Persia (Iran) over Bahrain (10-11 March), photographing the Sheikh's wife 'Queen' Ayesha (7 February, 12 March) and other photography (16, 23 March), including the filming by the American missionaries/geologists of a woman being publicly flogged (10 April) - there is a gap from 21 April to 30 October when Belgrave returned to Bahrain after leave. Other events include more issues with Iranian claims (7 November), concern over the replacement of Haworth as Political Resident with Sir Frederic Johnston who was thought to have pro-Persian sympathies (15 November).
