DescriptionFolder of correspondence, containing numerous letters from Michael Adams written from around the world - the majority to his wife Celia - between 1966 and 1983. There are also some airmail letters sent from Celia to Michael while he was in Istanbul, with some related material including a presscutting about Adams' role in making a documentary about Ataturk. Many are written on headed notepaper from hotels, embassies and conferences in locations such as Jerusalem, Granada, Sana'a, Beirut, Sharjah, Cairo, Khartoum and Amman. Part of the correspondence relates to his lecture tour of the USA in the autumn of 1970, travelling through places including Washington, Chicago, Minneapolois and Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and includes some 30 pages of diary notes written on lined paper. The content of the letters is often deeply personal, discussing the effects of Adams' travelling on the family and relationships, as well as chronicling Adams' impressions of different places, changes noted over time, meetings with other journalists, politicians and old friends, and progess with lectures and other media projects.
