Description | Draft materials - including synopsis, character outlines and an 88-page typescript of the first seven chapters - for Adams' unfinished novel 'A Question of Identity', set in the Middle East and concerning the lives to two journalists responding in different ways to the Arab-Israeli conflict. A typed letter to Mr Naim Attallah (16 May 1978) reveals that he had just begun writing the novel in early 1978 and hoped that it would be published by Attallah's firm - presumably Quartet Books. There are also two short autobiographical sketches relating to his wartime experiences, 'Solitude' and 'Adventures with Robert Browning', the latter having 'Christ Church, Oxford' typed on the title page, indicating a date of 1945-47. |
